Modification / Development Notes
1. Compile the game

Navigate to the folder where you’ve extracted the game and locate .

src / TheImpossibleSkateIsland.fla

Publish the movie and you should get your version in the same folder called : TheImpossibleSkateIsland.swf

The project is also FlashBuilder compatible. Just import it as an ActionScript project and Compile.

2. Modifying artwork

In order to change any game graphics, go into working/graphics/assets.fla

Once you open the FLA file in the Flash IDE, change any graphics desired. After you’re done, Pubish the movie. ( note this is not only testing the movie ). Once successfully published, it will produce graphics.swc and will handle the linkage with the main game for you. You should simply publish that file and the rest is taken care of.

3. Gameplay modifications

All the game parameters are located at : src/game/settings/

The data is in form of key value like so .

After each configuraion, there is a comment what it actually does.

4. General Notes about the project

The project is structured in 2 main aspects Engine and Game.

The Engine package contains a so to speak system functionalities that are the core game engine used to run the game. This bit of code is suggested to be minimally modified.

The Game package is the place where the logic behind the gameplay is. A compoment approach is used to add functions to a genereic object. You can easily add you own but extendeing from CComponent. ( See the components already in the game for a reference ) They are found in src/game/scripts.

The package src/game/scenes – this is the place where you can modify different scene from the game. For example CompanyScreen is the screen where the player is selecting levels, the Gameplay where the actual game happens and MainMenu is the screen that initially pops when you start the game.

Feel free to modify the code. It has comments on all key places.
